Peanut Butter Bananas & gulp... Pickles!

First off no I am not pregnant. Kate's choice for lunch today. The conversation went something like this.

Me: Kate what do you want for lunch?

Kate: I'm resting

Me: Ok, but what do you want for lunch?

Kate: Um, peanut butter, bananas and (pause) pickles.

Me: Together?

Kate: Yes!

Proceed to the kitchen where Kate oversees the me the chef to make sure I am doing everything right. After spreading peanut butter on the bread I reached for the pickle jar & a fork. Kate watching intently exclaims...

Kate: No, Mom not on the samich, on the plate!

Oh, thank God. She loves peanut butter & banana sandwiches as well as peanut butter and pickle sandwiches (yes they are good no matter what kind of pickles) But the thought of putting all 3 together had my stomach churning. Although I have no doubt in my mind that she would have eaten all 3 together if I had made it for her.

Back to School

Well, the boys started school yesterday. Seth was not looking forward to going back to school. I tried to convince him that 1st grade would be much better than Kindergarten but I don't think he bought it. He had a good day though and although his class this year is twice the size it was last year I think he'll enjoy it. Elijah on the other hand was ready to get back to school. He was sad that he had to cut his hair that he had spent months growing though. Stupid dress code. I am thankful the kids are able to go a Christian school but I really don't see why it is necessary to dictate haircuts too. I'm not going to get into that so I'll just leave it alone.

As for me I go back tonight. I'm not really looking forward to it though. I'm still not used to semesters instead of quarters & the weeks just seem to drag on forever.

I decided to teach myself German again. I took German in high school and in college but I have forgotten most of it. I really love the language and want to be able to speak it fluently. I also want to try and expose Kate to more of it while I am still home with her. Should be quite a feat as I am not sure when I will have time to really get into it.

Come back for the debut of my new Linley Bags!

Oh, lovely coat where art thou?

I can't remember the last time I bought a new coat. Perhaps before I had kids? Yikes! That HAS been a while. Each year I start out very enthusiastic in my search for the PERFECT coat. And each year I come through the winter empty handed. I haven't even worn a coat the last 2 winters. A hoodie under my denim jacket has worked quite well for me. Although I must say it is quite lacking in the style department. Last year I decided to just abandon my search and just go with the denim hoodie look. The one thing wrong with that is that you can't dress that up. No matter how hard you try. Not even the vintage broach given to me by my grandma could make that ensemble sing.

This is my last week before school starts again for the lot of us. I am without a car as a friend backed into ours and it is in the body shop for the week. So feeling quite sorry for myself I decided to visit my dear friend Boden. Boden is one of those friends who I frequently talk to online and who sends plenty of pretty photos & letters but very rarely visits personally. I decided that I wasn't feeling bad enough and I needed to reinstate my search for the perfect coat. Then just as if God had opened the heavens and shined a light right on it I saw it. Beautiful, warm, stylish & lovely and only $198! What! ONLY? I have never spent that much on a single article of clothing, essential coat or otherwise, in my life! I am not sure I can stomach the thought of spend $198 on a coat. But look at it. Isn't it beautiful. I can't take my eyes off of it. And such a lovely shade of red. Of course it also comes in blue. chocolate brown & pear green. I think I want one if every color!

Friday's Mail

Friday's mail was MUCH better than Tuesday's mail! I got my fabric & some books I ordered from Amazon! I Love Dirt! and Amy Butler's new book. Although I have to admit I was a little disappointed in Amy's book. There were a couple of clothing items I knew would be in it that I wanted to make for Kate. Well the patterns are only up to size 9-12 months. The pictures and products are lovely and you really get ALOT for your $ with this book. But had I known that about the sizes I probably would not have purchased it. Oh well. But back to my fabric!

I opened the box and found yards of this lovely fabric I ordered. Heather Bailey's Pop Garden! Of course this picture doesn't do it justice.

My sister also ordered some of Heather's Bailey's yummy fabrics along with a couple other brightly colored prints & we shipped them together to save shipping. Here is what she got! I am thinking that since she is currently out of the country that by default that makes the fabric mine. What do you think?

A day by the pool

A good time was had by all!
