Sugar is the devil!

I have had a long love affair with sugar. It has been going on for years & I have finally had enough. I am tired of the control it has over me. I have decided to go without sugar for 30 days. I'm on day two.

I figured 30 days isn't all that long. But it means no cookies, except maybe these, cake (which I'm not a big fan of anyway), candy (same, not a big fan) and ice cream. No more Grogg lattes from Boston Stoker. I'll just have to settle for Highlander grogg.

I'm feeling pretty confidant right now. We'll see where I'm at in a couple of days. I feel sorry for my family who will have to live with me through withdrawal. I do have my cousin's wedding reception coming up in a couple of weeks. I have decided that I will allow myself one thing if I want it. I'll keep you posted on how I am doing! Wish me luck!

Yum....Coffee

Note to self: Do not share coffee with Seth again.

Last night was meet the teacher night at school. We had some time to kill beforehand so the boys & I headed to Boston Stoker to get a cool drink. Seth was having a hard time deciding what to get. I finally offered to just share my grogg latte with him & he happily obliged.

I offered to let Seth carry our drink out to the car. When we reached the car I noticed that Seth had greedily slurped up about 2/3 of OUR drink!
"Seth!" I said. "That was supposed to be for us to share."
"Oh" said Seth, "I didn't realize I drank so much." was his excuse.

From there we went to school to meet their new teachers. Let me tell you. I had no idea caffeine affected Seth that way. He was BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS! And not just the walls. The floor, doors, desk, drinking fountains, couch, air, sidewalk. You name it if he came into contact with it he was BOUNCING off of it. I tried to reassure his new teacher (1st year might I add) that he was not normally like this. I'm not convinced she believed me.

Happy 4th!

Things I am enjoying today on this fabulous day of celebration.
Freedom & for all those who fight to keep us free. God bless you because we would not be here today if it wasn't for you all risking your lives.
A cup of coffee because it is nice & cool & rainy out today. But not just any coffee, Highlander Grogg from Boston Stoker, my favorite!
The sound of silence because my kids are spending some time with Grandma & Grandpa!
Waking up with my down comforter pulled up to my chin!
Yummy Strawberry Pretzel Dessert that I made for a picnic later this evening.
The smell of charcoal drafting in my dining room window from a neighbor's grill.

Happy 4th of July everyone!
